Reflective Edges: Psychological Safety
We gathered on Friday to explore Psychological Safety. Pragmatically, theoretically and everything in between. It was a rich and reflective conversation (we don’t record them), and time flew by.

We, (Mel, Judy and Andria) have such deep appreciation for the leaders who took the leap and joined us for the very first Reflective Edges conversation!
Leaders brought their curiousity, and lived experience, and as we debriefed after the call, we recognized that there is something magical that happens when people come together to be in dialogue together.
Here is some of the content our conversation was based on:
Psychological safety has become one of the most talked-about concepts in leadership and organisational life. Yet, as Amy Edmondson and Michaela Kerrissey remind us in Harvard Business Review (May 2025), it’s often misunderstood. They note that psychological safety is not about being “nice” or avoiding accountability. It’s about creating the conditions where people can speak up, take risks, and surface reality — even when it’s uncomfortable (HBR, 2025).
But psychological safety is only the beginning. We are inviting leaders to consider the next step: collective psychological and relational maturity (Peter Hawkins, Renewal Assoc. 2024). Teams don’t thrive when they’re only safe, they thrive when they can hold support and challenge together, engaging in dialogue that is both stretching and generative.

Some of the notes we received from participants:
“It’s a unique discussion I don’t get to have often.”
“It was a fascinating conversation, and I really appreciated hearing all of the ideas and perspectives.”
“I was excited to learn about the concept, and I deeply enjoyed the thoughtfulness and well-articulated variety of experiences of the group. It has inspired me to think more deeply about how I approach leadership and creating psychological safety.”
If you’d like to join next month’s conversation, we will be talking about the Myths of Productivity. Register here!
Looking forward to seeing you October 17th!
