What does it mean to feel safe while leading? Psychological safety isn’t a policy, it’s a climate leaders create. Join us as we collectively explore what leaders need to cultivate the maturity, courage, and relational depth to foster environments where others feel safe to speak, risk, and grow.
You can (and many have) spend a great deal of resources on leadership development, team building, and change management, and not see the results you need. There can be numerous reasons, and I’d love to hear your experiences of what has REALLY worked for you and your organization.
A leader I coach recently reflected on why a major change management consulting engagement didn’t land. Six consultants came in, did interviews, produced thoughtful recommendations… but the real issue? The person creating the dysfunction was in the room the whole time. And no one felt safe enough to name it.
The organization was talking about psychological safety, but not living it. My client described it perfectly:
“He talked about psychological safety like a disciple, but he didn’t practice it.” He gave every new employee a book on psychological safety, but he wasn’t able to let go of decision making and trust his team. Without trust, even the best insights can’t take root. What we need isn’t just diagnosis, it’s space to speak honestly, and the courage to work from the inside out.
